nveiling the Enigma:

Perspectives, Techniques, and Motives

An Analysis of Agatha Christie’s Works through Diverse

Abstract

Agatha Christie, as a pioneer of modern mystery fiction, sustained her timeless impact through not only the sophisticated approaches to writing but also the depth of humanity conveyed in her words. Christie’s story construction is distinctive. She incorporates what she sees and hears in her dramatic life into Hercule Poirot, a fictional detective with a prominent moustache. She portrayed her delight and dissatisfaction with twentieth-century English society through his actions. In contrast to Sherlock Holmes’ whimsical ways to pursue his occupation, Poirot would choose to redefine justice for the true innocents. Her writing style captures the readers’ hearts on a variety of dimensions, drawing a lasting impression.

Cynthia Liu

Cynthia is originally from Hangzhou, China, she spent her childhood in Beijing before moving to the United States in 2018 as an eighth-grader to pursue her dream education. Cynthia’s friends often describe her as “soft on the outside but tough on the inside”; she is in the process of overcoming her fear of public speaking, but she is strong enough to have spent her entire high school years in a foreign land without seeing her family once. One of her greatest passions is art, specifically character drawing; she also enjoys creating paintings that reflect her home country. Cynthia has spent countless hours reading, playing, and watching anything related to puzzle-solving. Her favorite mystery fiction writers are Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie, the creators of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, respectively. Among many dreams of Cynthia is to explore the unknowns of the deep dark ocean. This fall, she will be pursuing a major in marine science at Stony Brook University, hoping to get a step closer to her dream.
